I’m Still Here

As the title says, I’m still here. I’ve been very busy over the past few months, but that doesn’t mean I’ve been slacking on the photography. I’ve been working on a few projects and trying new things in photography.

As you know, if you’ve been following me for the past few months, is that I’ve started shooting some sports photography and that in itself has been a challenge, but a learning experience. I’ve been having fun trying different angles, but the lighting in these gyms are horrible, thus causing me to choose between blury images or noisy images. That has helped motivate me to think about my options as a “professional photographer”, so I can start making some extra money to fund the upgrade of my camera gear.

Flash photography is something that has eluded me for some time and it is still something that I have a problem with. I also have a hard time directing people to pose for me, so setting up a studio style shoot is one thing that I haven’t been able to get myself to do. So I’ve decided to pick up a project that I hope I can turn into a viable solution for making money with photography and not having to working with models, or brides.

I’m not yet ready to make any official announcement on what my new venture will be, but I’m currently in the process of creating a personal portfolio, so I will have examples of the work that I have done to show to perspective clients. As of right now, I am doing some “pro-bono” work, in the short-term, to build up this portfolio, and I’ve already got some “published” work.

Because of the work that I’ve been doing, I don’t really have anything new to share with you today, but I will post an image from my archives.

While out for a short walk down the street from our house, I had my daughter stand up against a shed. She’s always happy to stand in as a model. This shot was taken using a NIKON D5000 at ISO 200, f/4, for 1/320sec
