Mirror Lake Sunset

Lone Eagle Peak has been on my to do list for a long time, but with the 7+ mile backpacking hike in it seemed unattainable. On Sunday I finally made it a reality. I set out with Steve and Jon for this incredible adventure. What a surreal, peaceful place. You must see it in person.

Roaring Fork Motor Trail
Got up early yesterday to meet Jerry Denham for a few hours of shooting the Roaring Fork Motor Trail, part of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. The last shot of the day for me was of this bridge that I had first seen in a painting that I had seen on Google Image Search, while I was doing a little research about this area. While talking to Jerry about the image that I had seen, he said he didn’t know of such a spot. But it wasn’t until we passed it, that we realized that this was the spot. Traffic on this road is one way and this shot is “facing traffic”, so basically we had to look behind us to see the shot.

This shot was taken using a NIKON D5000 at ISO 100, f/16, for 1/2sec
